Modern systems — one concept

Soul and mind

TL;DR

The books separate a calculating faculty (mind) from an intuitive one (soul), and hold that goals chosen by mind against soul lead to well-executed wrong lives.

The books separate a calculating faculty (mind) from an intuitive one (soul), and hold that goals chosen by mind against soul lead to well-executed wrong lives.

In Russian. душа и разум — the original term; English and Polish editions do not always render it the same way.

Where the idea comes from

The split between a knowing that does not argue and a reasoning that does maps loosely onto the familiar contrast between fast intuition and slow deliberation. The system's addition is that agreement between the two is the condition for everything else.

What you can actually check

Partly. You can run the three-year test on one goal: if this succeeds completely and I live inside the result for three years, do I want it? An honest no usually means the goal belongs to someone else.

What it does not settle

No way is given to tell the soul's voice from wishful thinking, fear or habit. The warning is real and the diagnosis is often right; the instrument for making the distinction is not supplied.

Fair questions

What is the unity of soul and mind?

The state in which intuition and reasoning want the same thing. In the system it is the precondition for everything else working.

How do I tell the soul from the mind?

The books give no test, and that is the gap worth naming. Nothing in them separates intuition from fear, or a quiet knowing from a rehearsed preference.
